anadian-born
clarinetist Anthea Jackson has performed as a soloist with Orchestra
London, the Victoria Symphony and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony,
and played solo and chamber music recitals on CBC Radio and Radio-Canada.
An active supporter of new music, she was an artist-in-residence at
the Banff Center for the Arts, performing repertoire by Canadian composers.
She is currently the director of outreach performance at the Musicorda
Chamber Music Institute and is a teaching artist with the 92nd Street
Y. She has taught at the Juilliard Pre-College Division and is a consultant
for the Manhattan School of Music Educational Outreach Program. She
graduated with distinction in performance from McGill University and
the University of Ottawa and received scholarships from the Canada
Council for the Arts, National Arts Center Orchestra Association and
the Ottawa Music Club. She recently completed her Doctor of Musical
Arts degree at the State University of New York in Stony Brook under
the direction of Charles Neidich, Alan Kay and Daniel Gilbert.
