Anthea Jackson | Clarinet

Anthea Jackson, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, is a classically trained clarinetist, teaching artist, and arts administrator.

Prior to joining the MYO staff, Ms. Jackson worked at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute supervising the Professional Training Workshops, which are multi-day experiences for young professional musicians who are mentored by celebrated artists, including Christian Tetzlaff, the Takács Quartet, Brad Mehldau, and Marilyn Horne. She also participated in the planning, recruiting, and audition review of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. For four years she served as the director of the School of Music at the 92nd Street Y, where she expanded the programming to include a youth orchestra, jazz ensembles, and glee club; worked closely with students and families to help them choose classes and instruments; recruited the school’s outstanding faculty; and oversaw the 92Y’s music scholarship program. Born and raised in Canada, Ms. Jackson has a Doctor of Musical Arts in clarinet performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Ms. Jackson is currently serving on the Board of the League of American Orchestras Youth Orchestra Division.
